Questions, answered
How long should a title tag be?
Google shows roughly 580 pixels on desktop — about 50–60 characters. Wide letters like W and M use more space than i or l, which is why we measure pixels.
How long should a meta description be?
Aim for about 120–155 characters. Longer descriptions get cut off, and Google may rewrite them anyway.
Why does Google show a different description?
Google sometimes picks text from your page that better matches the search. A clear, relevant description makes it more likely yours is used.
Does the meta description affect rankings?
Not directly, but a compelling description increases click-through rate, which brings more traffic from the same position.
