Is there a limit on files or size?

No fixed limit. Very large documents (hundreds of MB) depend on your device’s memory, but everyday files merge in a second or two.

Why is one of my files marked “password-protected”?

Encrypted PDFs can’t be merged until the password is removed. Open it in a PDF reader, save an unlocked copy, then add that instead.

Will text and links still work?

Yes. Pages are copied as they are, so text stays selectable and searchable, and vector graphics stay sharp.
