11 November: 11.11.
20 November: National Day.
27 November: White Friday.
Picture a Muscat perfume brand planning the last quarter. Last year it ran one long “Q4 sale” from early November to the end of December. Sales rose, but margin fell, and customers learned to wait for the next code. Nobody could say which week actually worked.
This year the calendar is even tighter. National Day falls on 20 and 21 November, and White Friday, the regional name many retailers use for Black Friday, lands on 27 November, exactly one week later. [1] Those are two very different moments competing for the same customers, budget and team.
This is a fictional teaching example. The dates are real; the brand and figures are not.
The four moments and what makes each different
| Moment | Date | What customers want |
|---|---|---|
| 11.11 | Wednesday 11 November | Marketplace deals, especially electronics, fashion and beauty bought online. |
| National Day | 20–21 November | Pride, gatherings, gifts and time off. Emotion and occasion matter more than discount depth. |
| White Friday | Friday 27 November | Price. Shoppers compare deals and expect clear, genuine discounts. |
| Year-end | December, to 31 December | Gifts, cooler-weather outings, visitors in town and year-end budgets for business buyers. |
One detail matters this year: 20 and 21 November 2026 fall on a Friday and Saturday, Oman’s weekend. Watch for the official announcement of how the holiday will be observed before you fix delivery promises, opening hours and staff rotas. The holiday dates themselves are set by Royal Decree 15/2025. [1]
Then the quarter rolls straight into the next big planning window: Ramadan 2027, currently expected around 8 February. The Ramadan 2027 runway starts before December ends.
Give every moment one job
The biggest Q4 mistake is running the same discount message through every moment. Customers stop listening, and your National Day content ends up sounding like a clearance sale. Instead, give each moment a single job:
Test
Use it to test offers and creatives on a smaller budget. Learn which products and messages move, then carry the winners into White Friday.
Connect
Lead with meaning, not markdowns: limited editions, gifting, stories of local craft and service. Treat national symbols with respect.
Convert
This is the price moment. Make offers clear, genuine and protected by margin rules. Keep it short so it stays special.
Keep
Turn Q4 buyers into repeat customers: thank-you messages, gift-card reminders and early access to Ramadan collections.
Separating the jobs also separates the measurement. When each moment has one goal, you can finally tell which one earned its budget. If you are tempted to discount across all four, run the numbers first with the discount profit test.
How much runway is left for each moment?
The planner opens on today’s date. Change it to see where your team should be on any day of the quarter.
Next up: 11.11 sales in 48 days. Anything that needs creators, stock or new creative should already be booked by the “Produce and test” stage, six weeks out.
Stages: more than six weeks out, plan and book; three to six weeks, produce and test; one to three weeks, warm up audiences; the final week, live. The Ramadan date is an estimate that depends on the moon sighting. The planner runs in your browser.
Pace the budget instead of spreading it
With four moments in seven weeks, an even daily budget spends too much in the quiet days and too little at the peaks. A simple pacing rule helps:
- Warm-up
- About 20% from mid-October: build audiences with useful content, product stories and National Day creative.
- 11.11
- About 10%: a contained test of offers and creative.
- National Day
- About 25%: occasion-led content, gifting and creators.
- White Friday
- About 30%: short, focused conversion campaigns to warmed audiences.
- Year-end
- About 15%: retention, gifting and early Ramadan sign-ups.
These shares are a starting point, not a benchmark. A gifting business may weight National Day and year-end higher; an electronics retailer may weight 11.11 and White Friday higher. What matters is deciding deliberately, and writing down what each slice is meant to achieve. Advertising costs often rise during peak weeks, so audiences warmed up earlier are worth more than cold traffic bought at the peak.
The six-week runway for each moment
- Six weeks out: plan and book. Confirm the offer, stock, margin rules and delivery capacity. Book creators and photography. For creators, check the promotion licence first; see buy outcomes, not followers.
- Four weeks out: produce and test. Make creative in Arabic and English. Test the landing pages on a phone; a slow page wastes peak traffic, as the Core Web Vitals guide explains.
- Two weeks out: warm up. Tease the collection, grow your WhatsApp and email lists, and let customers save or wish-list products.
- Launch week: go live and watch. Check stock, reply times and checkout daily. Pause anything that breaks a margin rule.
- The week after: review. Record what each moment achieved against its one job before the next one starts.
Q4 readiness check
After December: the quarter that pays for itself
The quarter’s real return often arrives later. Customers who first bought in November can be the easiest Ramadan customers in February, if you ask permission to stay in touch and give them a reason to come back. Measure Q4 on what it adds to the next six months, not just the last six weeks.
Questions about Q4 planning
Should we run a discount on National Day?
You can, but it is rarely the strongest message. National Day rewards meaning: gifts, limited editions and pride in local products. Keep the deep discounts for White Friday, when shoppers expect them.
We are a small business. Do we need all four moments?
No. Choose the one or two that fit your customers and do them well. A focused National Day campaign beats a stretched presence in all four.
When will the National Day holiday be observed in 2026?
The official dates are 20 and 21 November, which fall on Oman’s weekend this year. Follow the official government announcement for any substitute days before you plan staffing and delivery.

- Decree: Royal Decree 15/2025 — sets the National Day holiday on 20 and 21 November.
Method: countdowns are whole days between the chosen date and each moment. White Friday follows the Black Friday date, the day after the US Thanksgiving holiday. The Ramadan 2027 date is an estimate used in this site’s Ramadan planning guide.
